I actually needed other people's help when I was in first/second year of high school. I was shy and not too talkative and kept to myself because I couldn't fit in with the others. I don't think I even tried to because I didn't know how, looking back now. The class bully back then (he dropped out of school after the 2nd class in high school, luckily) used to pick on me all the time, and I felt uncomfortable and insecure in the class to begin with because of my weirdness compared to most others and because of social anxiety, so I rarely had the courage to defend myself.
