I just think a lot of monsters are so shallowly obsessed with her needing to come off odd to be considered artistic that they end up writing something like DWUW off just because it has the potential to be commercially successful. When in actuality its just as challenging not only vocally but also because of her foray into an unfamiliar genre for her. She doesn't have to release something lyrically random and be polarizing to be considered artful or have her Gaga brand be reputable. Its about making good music.
Yeah that's unfortunate. I like when she does things different but in all honest both Venus and DWUW are very different for her. And they serve to very different kinds of styles for her fan base. I honestly understand why half can like one and not the other. I don't think it has to be with her being "artistic" just a personal musical preference. I do agree that she doesn't have to be polarizing with her lyrics (all the time or at all really) to be herself though.
