Yes it's much more difficult than most band instruments because you don't push buttons to make a certain pitch, you have to know where on the violin it will make that sound. Oh. Yeh, French horn is probably the most difficult wind instrument to play because you can play an entire scale with the same key(button), you literally have to know how every note sounds like before you play it and you have to apply the correct pressure in order to create that note you seek. Also the instrument actually has 2 parts to it with 2 different keys, and you have to tune by moving your hand around inside the bell...It was so overwhelming when I first started but it creates such a beautiful sound!!! It's a mess tbh.
