I think they put Lisa's character across very well. She didn't appear to be weak or a "crier" and was very strong footed in her approach to life throughout the movie. It's possible to be very strong and still have emotional moments, everybody cries now and then.
Crystal said in an interview that she waned to take the contract home so her mother can check it but Pebbles refused (which was a red flag right there) so she did not signed it which is why she wasn't in the group.
TLC did said that the movie could have been much longer but they had to cut it down to two hours. So who knows what other stuff. happened
