We whined and whine and WHINED about Britney doing more mature music and now that we're about to get her magnum opus y'all are concerned about it flopping.
"Perfume" will peak at #112 on the Bubbling Under and y'all will DEAL and enjoy it while she breaks Metacritic records.
Great music doesn't sell well. Ray of Light is the exception, not the rule!
I think it it is ******** to say no one knows she has a song out, for the flop that the song is,I've seen it mentioned on more shows, news articles, and websites than Run The World, Your Body/Not Myself Tonight ever were. Hell it has more relevance than the #1 HIAM. Yes , it isn't doing the business on radio and iTunes , but it has gotten alot of press given its chart performance, which I find lind of crazy.
Work Bitch got so much promotion thanks to its video here in Germany but it's stalled in the 40s on iTunes for weeks now and it never really moved a lot (only when it was released ofc). They definitely know Britney has a new song out.

I think Vegas and the controversy around the name of the song and the music video being reported as having Britney on top of her game again were more than enough to make people know Britney is releasing a new album and that she obviously has a new single out. Media outlets generally don't talk about chart performance unless you're slaying like Katy or Miley were with their sales and streaming views, so the fact that the song flopped doesn't mean much when it comes to "tell somebody in your town" and "spread the word".
The comparison probably shouldn't be made considering the fact that Work Bitch is a much bigger "hit" (or smaller "flop", for what's worth) and the jealous mess that the other fanbase I'm gonna mention is, but this situation is like Run The World - Everybody knew Beyoncé was "back" with a new single despite the ridiculous performance of the lead single on the charts, so I agree with you.

That's why it's time to let it go. The public is definitely not here for it.

I agree with you, and in all the news I heard about it I never have once read or heard about its chart performance. It has been mentioned on Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, Wendy Williams, GMA, The Talk, Chelsea Handler, Ross Matthews, Watch What Happens and more. So it garnered a great deal of press all things considered. The video gave it some legs.
-a personal album with low sales
or
-a generic album with multi platinum certifications
FYI you can't have both unless you're Adele
Am i lying Mr Telephone Man?
Personal album a la In The Zone, not personal album a la Adele's records.
Britney's had her fair share of successful albums, at this point I think she's allowed to release something closer to her heart again.
I would, however, stay away from ATRL, especially this base, considering all the fake stans would be here killing themselves and trashing Britney and it would be annoying as hell.
