I'm actually pretty confident in this being the 2nd single tbh. everyone, literally EVERYONE I've played the song for at my job has said nothing but good things about it (I work at the family court in my city, so it's mostly older people lol) and the media is receiving it really well. with a good video and good performances, this could probably be almost as massive as bad romance

plus that bridge is one of the most heavenly things in her discography, so it deserves a chance to be put on a platform

! The song has a lot of potential. With both R&B and Pop elements, it could be accessible to more people compared to a dance, etc song

Get over yourself. There were many factors that went in the decision. On Thursday she tweeted how she was in tears hearing everyone's reception on the DWYW snippet. The reception even before it went #1 was the most positive it has been since pre-Alejandro possibly pre-Telephone. Sales werea factor but it wasn't the sole factor. Gaga wrote all of these songs and are personal to her this one being about how the media treated/bullied her. So stop trying to make it seem like she sold herself for a hit single.

I don't think they would do anything at this point with it being so close in time.

I think if Venus does better then they will also make it a official single & she will dual promote.

There were many factors behind them making DWUW a official single though.

You have to look at it through a business (label) prospective also. The song goes #1 in 83 countries, obviously they are going to want to take advantage and send it to radio and keep the sucess going. If not it would be a missed opportunity.

It wasn't just because it went #1, but the GP and not just the LM were praising it and the label jumped right on it.

People are judging the song because it dropped to #2, but it's gonna pick up once it starts playing on radio + music video etc

Oh yeah the music video.

When do you predict it will come out? I mean she hasn't shot it yet obviously. And she is away all week for Germany&UK promo. She will probably return sometimes next week but there is Youtube Awards coming up and they have to plan the video anyway.

I expect her to shoot the video in the first november week, with a release 3 weeks later.

It's a mess tbh.

I honestly don't understand what the problem is. "Do What U Want" is the most radio-friendly song we've heard so far from ARTPOP right?

The production isn't at all too experimental (though Gaga's "genre-tripping" kinda is) and the lyrics are the most radio-friendly we've heard from Gaga since perhaps even The Fame era (Just Dance, Poker Face, LoveGame lyrics) in my opinion. I mean the context of the song can be taken differently, clever Gaga, but the GP will likely view it as that feel good, sexy, "make love in the club" song 'cause let's face it...not many folks (except Gaga's fans of course) care about the duality of her lyrics.

I think DWUW is a terrific choice, as previously stated by other monsters it is the most marketable song she's produced in years, Interscope would be foolish not to push it.

I'm 90% sure I'll prefer Venus personally but it's not like they announced it being taken off ARTPOP or something, the fact there were meltdowns just tells me you girls should really get out of the house a bit more

- A facebook header "accidently" gets uploaded saying "ARTPOP incl. Applause & Gypsy"
- Gaga upploads a new twitter dp looking quite "Gypsish"
- Fans lose their ****
- Both pictures get taken down
- Gaga wants people to trend the next single
- Gaga anounces Venus as the second single and promotes it via twitter
- Gaga teases Venus with lyrics
- IMPORTANT dates are anounced, 2 promo singles with Venus sandwiched in
- Muppets special is anounced inlcuding a performance of Venus
- X Factor performance is anounced for Venus
- DWUW get released and sky rockets to the top of the charts in over 70 countries thanks to the pre-order
- Interscope gets greedy and lets Gaga anounce that DWUW is the official next single
- Venus is a promo single with a video and two televised performances coming up
- DWUW falls from No. 1 in US and UK and other countries.

If I were them, I'd shoehorn in a simple video shoot next week when she and R Kelly are in London. Even if they do it through the night. Perhaps it could be partly shot outside to embrace that.

She has the resources to make this happen. Get Nick Knight or someone to shoot a simple video in a studio. Very slick and minimal that requires minimal post production.

They made TEOG happen last minute and in a few hours - with more planning, it's fine.

A lyric video in the meantime, too...
