I only recently "got" the lyrics to Beenie Man's "Dude"
Yeah, that whole period was brilliant. Bey, ever the bandwagoner, releasing, arguably (not really, her top 5 but don't @ me) Baby Boy with Sean Paul. I love that song
Basically, all of B her albums before 4 were latches onto a popular musical trend at that moment. & that's great, because it shows her ability to move with the times and adapt her image to what is selling. With 4, she was attempting to create her own trend (or latch onto ADELE's, whichever floats your boat) and this kinda failed commercially but not critically.
So yeah, it'll be very interesting to see what path she takes with the new album. As i said before, i'd like her to develop what she initally started with Azonto because if she utilises it properly, she could become the face of Africa how her idol Fela is.
true, America doesn't really get dancehall or reggaeton the dancing and the culture. The Anglos are not here for it. Anyways, that brief 2003 trend was everything.
