 Actually, I was expecting a more acoustic-based album after Fearless because of the Platinum Edition songs. But yes, you're right. Her in-between era releases are never really good indicators of Her direction for the next album.... Although S&S and EO could be paired with SBT and TLO, neither indicate the main sound of RED.
I do think the next album will either have some throwback pop/ rock like Sweeter Than Fiction OR it'll be a more traditional country sound. Considering She has just started to break-through on the global level, I'm thinking the next album will lean in a poppish direction... You don't go global for three songs and the retreat into a super-local genre. Another option is that She goes for some sort of Mumford kinda sound that will appeal across genres + across continents. 
Knowing Her, She will attempt to put 80s pop + bluegrass + arena rock + alternative tracks onto the same album. 
 
And let's not forget She
