A 15-year-old grew up with "Hung Up" (don't give me the US excuse, it was HUGE around the world), "Sorry" (also huge globally), "4 Minutes", "Give It 2 Me" (Top 10 almost everywhere), "Celebration" (Top 10 in all of Europe). She's had plenty of hits, huge media coverage (adoption controversies, Confessions Tour cross controversy, divorce from Guy Ritchie, Gaga feud, etc). She's been on the VMAs, the Billboard Awards, every time she goes to countries in places like South America or Eastern Europe she gets huge press there. Of course younger people know who Madonna is.
