MediaTakeOut.com is sad to report to you that rapper Lil Mama, whose real name is Niatia Jessica Kirkland, suffered a terrible loss over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Lil Mama's mother passed away. Tyra Kirkland (Lil Mama's mother) was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and had been valiantly fighting the disease ever since. Lil Mama received the news of her mother's passing while at an Atlanta concert. She immediately returned to New York to be with family. (Confirmed by 106 & Park).

RIP. It's always hard to hear that a loved one died, but it's even sadder that she didn't get to spend her mom's last moments with her, and she's so young too (18 years old).

I really feel bad for her.What a bad time for her mother to pass away,right near the holidays.My condelences go to her and her family through this tragic time.

i remember her doing a interview saying her mom had lung cancer or something and that she wouldnt know what to do if she died...OMG this is so sad
