Drake has admitted that he hates being labelled a "lonely" and "emotional" rapper, adding: "It bothers me so much."
The star, who released his third album Nothing Was the Same last month, opened up in a revealing hour-long interview with Canada's CBC Radio.
He explained that even though he references heartbreak and broken romances in his music, he is fine being single.
"I'm so sick of people saying that I'm like lonely and emotional, and associating me with this like longing for a woman," said the 26-year-old.
"I hate that, it bothers me so much... 'cause I do make music that makes you feel something, but I'm actually not that guy in real life, I'm happy... I'm very excited, my life is constantly exciting it's not some sad depressing story."
Drake added: "As far as the soundscapes go, that's just the music that I chose to make, I make music strictly for the purpose of driving at nighttime."
Fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar recently took another shot at Drake, calling him "sensitive" and "fake" in a new rap.
Drake scored his third number one album in the United States with Nothing Was the Same.
An emotional response to claims about him being emotional is not the way to do it. I don't see why he has a problem with it when it clearly works for him.
I like that he's emotional. It's what separates him from the others, tbh. I'm so sick of hearing rappers rap about what they have, how they get it, how thuggish they are, etc. It's all played out. Drake is a breath of fresh air.
