Hotel selfies have been done before, but never quite like this.
Last night new Lagerfeld muse Rita Ora took the game to new heights by ditching the traditional cream mask and terry toweling robe for a face full of Maison Martin Margiela crystals and a matching Margiela robe, effectively taking the most high fashion hotel selfie in all of history.
The tulle and cotton robe, from Margiela’s Couture Fall 2013 collection, was cut from a 1950s prom dress sourced in New York then hemmed with vintage fabric flowers sourced in L.A., London, Paris, and Brussels. On the runway it was teamed with a sequined dress found in Phoenix, also from the fifties. In Rita’s hotel it’s teamed with the most awesomely unexceptional humblebrags captions ever.
Shooting an exclusive Chanel shoot at midnight with Karl Lagerfeld and strutting around in Maison Martin Margiela Couture at home; it's all in a week's work for Rita Ora
---
Rita Ora has hit three of the world's fashion capitals this week, with a designer wardrobe to match.
Last Friday saw the 22-year-old pop star walk the runway at Rimmel's 180th birthday bash in head-to-toe checked Moschino, complete with tartan bow tie. Next up, Ora stamped herself as Karl Lagerfeld's muse du jour as she hit Paris for a midnight Chanel magazine shoot. Proving she is so Hot Right Now, Karl dressed Rita in deer ears and a huge sequinned cape that looked more Haute than Halloween.
But while we have just come to terms with Ora as Chanel's flavour of the month, we weren't prepared for the singer's next style move. Ditching the deer ears and Karl's company for New York, Rita took a couture selfie to rival all others. Merely 'chilling' in her hotel suite, Ora popped on a Maison Martin Margiela Couture autumn/winter 2013 dress coat and jewelled face mask (see above), with the casual hash tag 'only Margiela'.
