Gonna be honest. I've been a bad Katycat and just watched the Itunes Festival Performance now. I actually think it's one of my favourite live performances this year.
I tried to watch it live, but it didn't work, so I just listened to everything. But I really enjoyed what I heard
Is it just me or would "Walking on air" be the perfect song for the Victoria Secret show?

So I waited until I got mine delivered in the mail. No snippets or listens to the leak songs.
Sucks I purchased the standard one instead of the deluxe version.
Well, I bought the three bonus tracks on itunes afterwards anyways.
My first listen: Wow, this is really 80s inspired. Then, I thought hmm I get why people think her music is basic and generic.
To be fair, I wasn't a fan of TD until I played it a few times
This album definitely has to grow on me but I do think it is a solid effort.
Not sure if there is potential for 5/6 #1 hits though...I felt it was lacking a certain oomph.
That said
1. "Roar"
A+ Obvious universal smash
2. "Legendary Lovers"
B+...I think this is overrated but i could see it as a single (I see a kick a video for it). The production is sick though.
3. "Birthday"
B+...It's so fluffy and bubble gum. It's catchy. I really get 80s from this. NOt a bad thing but surprising. Gives me last friday night a little.
4. "Walking on Air"
A...I saw someone say they've never heard this sound before. Go to Cece Peniston in 91/92. It's so inspired by it but this NEEDS to be a spring/summer single.
5. "Unconditionally"
A-...I feel like I've heard it before and not only that but I've heard it from her. I think it's great but not groundbreaking. A surefire #1 in the making. So relatable and right in time for Valentine's day peak on radio.
6. "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J)
A+...Some people felt like this was a try hard trap beat and unheard of before. There was this big techno song that played on MTV's Real World 96'Miami that I loved and part of this production kind of references that but with minor changes...I love this song. I don't like how this is like the E.T. 2.0.
This should be released in the spring or summer because this needs to be released sooner rather than later for full impact.
7. "This Is How We Do"
A...I like it. Wow, she has so many songs that can fit in the summer. I don't like her sing rapping sounds like Kesha a bit. This could have a fun video. This gives me early 90s video beats, 80s vibes and mid 90s urban swirled up but in the best way possible. LOL. Yeah she can keep that talking part at the end.
8. "International Smile"
B...Good but just goes nowhere for me. I don't feel progression I feel like i heard a reject song from her past album.
9. "Ghost"
B+...Good but I can take it or leave it. Again, I feel like I've heard this before.
10. "Love Me"
B+...Seriously sigh. I've feel like I've heard it before but I actually like this vibe. I feel like it's one of those closing tracks in an 80s teen movie where the girl finally gets the guy after changing herself and then all of the sudden has an epiphany.
11. "This Moment"
A-...OMG Donna Summer 70s beat meets that beat everyone uses from that old David Hasselhoff 80s movie with the talking car. but then there are layers. I actually like it. I want her to perform this in concert.
12. "Double Rainbow"
B+ ...OMG that beginning beat reminding me of those creepy illuminati youtube clips. After that, cliche lyrics. I get U2 80s and Richard Marx right here waiting production vibes. I'm underwhelmed. I thought the insiders and people at the listening party were hyping this up. I have a feeling I'm saying this now but will end up loving it after a few listen.First listen, somewhat underwhelming.
13. "By the Grace of God"
A...I love a great closer. Touching. I get 90s powerballad from one hit wonder mixed with wide awake vibes...but I love it.
14. "Spiritual"
A+...Spiritual gives me U2/Natalie Merchant 90s ish in such a necessary way. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. It's so necessary...but as a great album filler. Not a single.
15. "It Takes Two"
A...OMG another 80s/90s closer teen movie sounding beat but I love the lyrics.
16. "Choose Your Battles"
B...The lyrics are great but the production just seems...IDK it hasn't grabbed me
Overall first listen B+
Singles in no order yet because I need to listen to it on my way to and from work tomorrow to let it sink in and materialize in my brain
but Dark Horse, Walking on Air, This is how we do and Legendary need to be singles.
