Blown Away is a great record. Something's to be said about an artist when even their worst LP is still high quality and slays most other artists' careers.
It's also her most mature record. I love the darker themes with "Blown Away" and "Two Black Cadillacs". For me, it was also the record from her that required the most patience. The other three were all immediate smashes to my ears, but Blown Away demanded more attention and repeated plays. Still though, there are a few clunkers/sub-par tracks on it that I can't look past. "Forever Changed", "Thank God For Hometowns", and "Wine After Whiskey" are the most obvious offenders.

Just kidding, But now we know why Blown Away was #1 in Sweden on Country Albums iTunes. You probably purchases the sole copy.

I just don't use the majority of Some Hearts, I use: Jesus Take the Wheel, Starts With Goodbye and That's Where It Is.
Blown Away I liked a lot more when first released, but now that it's been well over an year I personally feel it wasn't as solid as an album as she made it out to be. I'm glad she took creative risks, but a lot of songs shouldn't of seen the light of day. My favourite songs of hers are easily: Someday When I Stop Loving You, What Can I Say and Play On.
|
OMG, "What Can I Say" is so criminally underrated! I love that one! "Sometimes You Leave" is another overlooked one that's super solid.
I use "Before He Cheats", "Jesus, Take The Wheel", and "I Ain't in Checotah Anymore" the most from her debut. As for Play On, "Cowboy Casanova" is one of her most outstanding tracks yet and as I'm a sucker for inspirational ballads, "Change" struck a chord with me too.

If Wine After Whiskey was on Play On than it would of won Album of the Year at the Grammys.
If Blown Away was a seven track EP with: Good Girl, Blown Away, Two Black Cadillacs, See You Again, Do You Think About Me, Cupid's Got a Shotgun and Wine After Whiskey it would of slayed souls.

Is this the right time to mention that I've stanned for Carrie since 2007 yet I didn't listen to SH until 2011.

It took me forever to find a decent download file for Sometimes You Leave. I searched everywhere to find the Music Pass edition of Carnival Ride until I found out it was one of those album iTune cards they use to sell.
Change. I listened to that every morning in Kenya, I fell in love with it on a much more personal level after this summer.

Maybe she'll do a Nordic tour next era, like Brad?

I'm not really a big fan of Carrie's soft, mellow sound. I much prefer when she uses those grand vocals of hers and belts her way through a melodramatic ballad ("Blown Away", "I Know You Won't"), or plays a sassy role on an exciting uptempo ("Before He Cheats", "Cowboy Casanova", "Cowboy Casanova Part II aka Good Girl").

The song just screams Taylor though! It'd sound weird hearing Carrie's vocals on it. Also, I think some of the lyrics are a bit too juvenile for Carrie.

It's funny saying this but, I think Carrie can use her vocals to make her sound much more angry. Or she could do a different arrangement. I'd love to hear her sing some of the lyrics in that song.

Which part of Norway is she from?
She should do concerts somewhere that isn't NA, UK, Ireland or Australia
Watch her go to Africa
