Lack of choreo in pop music influencing next gen of pop?
agree with me or not gaga, rih and katy are 3 of the most relevant pop artists that have been almost out for a decade thus gaining masses of young fans and influencing future upcoming artist. these 3 started off with improving choreo as they each rose to fame for a short phase and now totally lacking them in performances. are they influencing future upcoming artist to not dance anymore and rather sing live on a boring piano or walk across stage. Are the days when artist like brit, janet, mj and bey use to give us iconic choreographic performances and mv's over? will pop music ever be the same?
Um no, Gaga definitely uses choreography doing all of her performances unless they're piano based. Katy does very little and Rihanna more on the less side of things.
Britney, Janet, and Michael ARE/were dancers.
But yeah the new artist don't really focus on dancing.
GaGa does a lot of choreography, especially during her tours. She does less on live performances so she can do more theatrics but it's always a good balance. Look at her VMA performance
Gaga's the only one that dances, or even tries to dance. Recently, because of Gaga, Katy has been trying to do big musical numbers with backup dancers, but they fall flat.
The reason dancing was so big back then was because people lip synced and no one cared. Nowadays you can't lip sync and dancing while singing can be hard.
I miss the days of choreographed dance routines, like with NSYNC or what Britney used to do. It really added something to the performance and made it seem like they were putting in extra effort. Now we're lucky if we get some arm movements and spins and call it dancing
J.Lo, Britney, Beyonce, MJ, Janet, Paula: ALL artists that KNEW (some still do) how to dance and have delivered epic, memorable, legendary routines time and time again.
Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Rihanna...: ALL gimmicky artists who can't dance for ****, some would say are rhythmically challenged.
