Selena Gomez, 21, reaffirmed her role as a pop star with good behavior in a new interview she gave on Oct. 15, revealing what she thinks about Miley Cyrus being naked on a wrecking ball! Read on for more juicy details.
When Selena did a radio interview for The Ben Davis and Kelly K Show, she was asked if she had had any “rock star moments” where she and her friends got crazy in hotel rooms.
Selena calmly replied, “It’s hard to be a rockstar when you’re a pop artist. I can’t be like, super-hardcore and then think, ‘Ok, well I’m in a pink sparkly dress.’ I say my rockstar version is like the PG-13 version.”
Was she dissing Miley,19, who’s known to be more than “super-hardcore?” Selena had a chance to speak her mind about Miley when she was also asked if she’ll be nude on a wrecking ball anytime soon, referencing Miley’s naked “Wrecking Ball” video.
“I don’t judge people. To each their own,” she replied.
While we don’t think that Selena will be twerking in her underwear or licking sledgehammers anytime soon, her simple response speaks volumes.
Selena may be cool with Miley doing what she wants, but given her nonchalant answer, it sounds like a small diss — albeit a polite one!
I think Miley & Selena are just very different girls at this point in their lives. But that might have to do with the popularity of their shows.
Miley had an entire image that was so huge that she had no choice but to shed it in order to actually be successful as an artist afterwards.
Selena's show wasn't as popular. And she also wasn't acting as a whole nother artist at all like Miley was with Hannah Montana. So I think in Selena's case, it's been much easier to transition into being an adult popstar, because the spotlight wasn't completely on her in the first place and she only had one character she portrayed on Wizards while Miley was portraying two with Hannah Montana. In addition to the fact that Selena's character didn't have sold-out concerts to their name.
Life experiences shape who you are as a person. That's why Demi has the most serious songs, why Selena is cute and sexy at the same time and why Miley went out of the spotlight and really WORKED on her album before getting signed to RCA.
