Let me read through this thread and see what's been said before I make a response.

So what I've gotten from the last couple of pages is that I'm a homophobic idiot who should die due to expressing my views on a situation that has been debated and discussed many times.

Then get on Wikipedia and educate yourself. You shouldn't be talking about things you know nothing about. Period. It's the definition of ignorant. It's like trying to talk in a math class when you don't even know how to add. You just sound ignorant, because you are ignorant. It would be a lot better for you if you just stopped replying and read up a bit on the history of gay rights, and the amount of anti-gay crimes that still occur today.
The fact that you think the behavior of some gay men on an internet forum is comparable to what gays have gone through historically just shows how uneducated, uninformed, and ignorant you are. You have no historical perspective, or really any idea of what goes on in the world around you. Pay more attention in school.

Anyway, to answer the OP, yes. The lyrics are clearly homophobic.
I think the homosexuals using the F word debate parallels Black people saying the N word. I don't think it makes someone hypocritical to be offended by the use of certain words by people that aren't members of their own community. It's not the same -- when a Black person uses the N word or a gay man uses the F word, the intent behind the usage is usually completely different than a straight person using the F word or a White person using the N word -- even if there is no ill intent, if you're not a member of that community, it just won't ever come across the right way. Also, not all Black people agree with the inner-community usage of the N word and all gay people don't agree with the similar usage of the F word, so the assumption that ALL of certain communities only conditionally support or agree with slurs being adapted as colloquialisms because some do is rather narrow minded.
And so is telling people what they do and don't have the right to be offended by. If it doesn't bother you, fine -- keep it pushing. But the fact that people are attacking people for taking offense is really ridiculous. It's one thing to be a fan of someone, but, if you're a fan, you know who you're dealing with. Eminem makes controversial lyrics that often offend people and the people who are offended have a right to express their disdain for what he says.

No, you're ignorant and talking about something which you admit to knowing nothing about.
People are calling you out for being ignorant and talking about something you admit to knowing nothing about.

Oh, poor Ryan... A straight man who finds it hard to defend gay people because some of them are offended by the homophobic lyrics in his new favorite Eminem song.

Dead at you basing your views on gay people on a website that revolves around worshiping females that have no idea of our existences.

Jesus ****ing Christ.
So what you're saying is because of a few idiots on ATRL you feel the need to generalize an entire population and you "find it hard" to support them and their struggle?

Zaid...what?
As a straight person, you have no right to tell any gay person to get over a homophobic slur. No straight person does.
I know you stan for Em, but c'mon now.

How can you excuse what Eminem does but at the same time condemn people for being offended by him clearly trying to..... offend people?
|
Yes you are, you're acting like everyone in here that so much as tries to explain his actions is acting like it's right or that people don't have a right to be offended.
Not everyone trying to explain his actions is excusing him, but you're acting like they are. So we're allowed to explain his reasoning at all? Some people come in here saying he's saying all these things because he's just a hateful person, and we don't have the right to explain why he's actually saying it?

!!!
And the girls are saying
"Why y'all shocked"
When nobody is actually shocked by his comments. I don't need to be shocked by his comments nor do I actually need to be offended by them in order to express my opinion. I'm not a woman but I find his lyrics toward women are pretty disgusting and offensive.
The only thing I'm remotely shocked by is some man in his 40s still using tacky ass tactics for publicity and attention like he's a new artist who has something to prove.

I mean where are they even getting this "Why y'all shocked" tea from anyway? Who in the thread said they were shocked and surprised? Who are they talking about? Are they arguing with those posters that only exist in their grey matter again?

Why are you even trying to explain his actions period? Y'all are trying to justify and make excuses for what he said.
There is no need to even explain his actions anyway when his lyrics are pretty much straight to the point.
