And Mariah may have been "famous" first but back in the 90s, she was extremely very low key, and her fame was on a Pink/Carrie Underwood under the radar scale, not the level of fame she has now. JLO became huge fame wise in 99. Mariah didn't experience that kind of level of fame until 2001. So in that sense, yes, JLO did become "famous" first.

In 93 JLO was working for Janet while Mariah was on her third album. Mariah would have had fame anyway cause she had other labels knocking on her door in 89.
