they're excellent lol
miley disappeared in 2010 after can't be tamed, an album which completely alienated her fanbase at the time, only sold 100k and 300k overall (?), and was only able to chart its title track, which wasn't even much of a success
THREE YEARS LATER (a long break in the world of music), miley returned with a completely new image & sound, and the controversy was polarizing! a large # of people were not going to be buying bangerz because of this "new miley"
despite all that, she was able to pull nearly 3x what she did last go round and top charts in countries where she typically hasn't been much of a force (the uk for one)
although one could ARGUE that all this promo, the new big hits, and the controversy should have pooled in 350k+, you have to remember that a) pop music is largely dependent upon long eras that provide an album continued sales and b) she is now hugely polarizing & she left for THREE YEARS (this is a big point) after a failure of an album era
the fact that miley is selling 275k first week & going #1 is HUGE and just shows this girl can come back from anything -- she's not going anywhere, and this is definitely just the beginning of a VERY fruitful music career
