K, but this depends on how the following singles perform. Ke$ha hasn't scored a second hit yet from Warrior, we don't know how Venus will perform. A smash lead single doesn't guarantee great album sales too if its followed by a string of flops.

It is a "real" hit, since it has been in the real Billboard Top 10 for 8 weeks. So I guess all these songs: 8 Weeks - I Love It [#7], 7 Weeks - Cups [#6], 7 Weeks - Feel This Moment [#8], 6 Weeks - Don't You Worry Child [#6], 6 Weeks - Safe & Sound [#8], 4 Weeks - Love Me [#9], 3 Weeks - Berzerk [#3], 3 Weeks - The Way [#9], 2 Weeks - ****in' Problems [#8], 2 Weeks - Clarity [#8] aren't "real" hits either. What is a "real" hit then? Please fill me in sis.

I Love It, Cups, Don't You Worry Child, Safe & Sound, The Way, Clarity are all debut / new singles from new artists. For them to reach the Top 10 is a huge achievement, especially for Anna Kendrick who is mainly an actress and released "Cups" one year after "Pitch Perfect". It became a huge viral smash, while Applause, on the other hand, is just another moderate hit (may I add, lead single from long awaited-hyped era) by an artists dubbed the biggest Popstar in the world. It being mentioned between these songs does not make her any favor, especially when a "Smash Hit" were basically the synonym for Lady Gaga.

And with Applause performing so mediocre you can't expect the second single to be some huge smash + the material she performed at the iTunes Festival wasn't exactly radio candy + Applause is supposedly the most radio friendly song on ARTPOP. But I digress. Anyways, Applause is a forgettable hit that isn't doing anything for Gaga's career overall. It's just there. But if y'all think otherwise be my guest.
And on a last note, if Gaga's lead single being on par with freaking Selena Gomez's and Bruno Mars' third single is a good thing then I just... How the mighty have fallen.

What about "Berzerk" then though? Is Eminem fading then by your logic? He is a major artist and the song only lasted 3 weeks in the Top 10, where as "Not Afraid" lasted for more than double that time and peaked at #1.
And that's where "Applause" is at NOW sis. All those other songs are long gone from the Top 10 and aren't going to add any more weeks. "Applause" is still in the Top 10 and can add 1, 2 or maybe even more weeks to its run which would put it on par with songs such as "Treasure" [9 Weeks], "Come & Get It" [9 Weeks], "Started from the Bottom" [10 Weeks], "We Can't Stop" [11 Weeks], "Scream and Shout" [11 Weeks].

This is pure speculation and I can't really argue about it. We don't know how the following singles will sound nor how they will be promoted and even if we knew it we still wouldn't be able to predict for sure how they will perform. Applause did its thing, which was reintroducing her to radio (even taking ai inflation into account, it is still a Telephone-sized radio hit and it is doing well outside pop too), youtube (it is performing much better then her BTW era videos, besides Judas which was controversial and had a lot of dislikes) and introducing her to the streaming market which rapidly grew during her break. She can either be able to turn this in her favour by releasing the right song with the right video and promo or fail.

I think what people mean is, Applause is just there. And by that I mean it and its music video have had no impact and Applause is a nonfactor when it's comes to competition for #1 like Roar, Royals, and Wrecking Ball are. This isn't an insult, it's just how it is, and hopefully for Gaga she can turn it around because the interest just isn't there yet.
Counting Stars Top 10 love this song, radio better do it right!
We Can't Stop and it's longevity

Because they don't sell albums in the first place.

That's kinda dumb to say, so for you the only songs that have some impact are the ones that go to #1?

He sits in this thread waiting for Gaga's red updates, so I wouldn't bother sis.

Applause has been glued in the top 10 for almost 9 weeks now. It would not be there if people weren't interested in the song.
I know a song being in the top 10 for so long may be a hard concept to grasp, but it does happen to some artists!

CS is a potential #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Let's see in the coming weeks.

It's great to see that the GP is still here for OneRepublic now that another band whose name begins with "One" is more popular than they ever were.

TBH he is right though.
Appluase is a moderate hit, and is doing better than I expected.
Still..... it is having less impact than a song of its success level should have in my humble opinion.
