Your attempts.
It is a "real" hit, since it has been in the real Billboard Top 10 for 8 weeks. So I guess all these songs: 8 Weeks - I Love It [#7], 7 Weeks - Cups [#6], 7 Weeks - Feel This Moment [#8], 6 Weeks - Don't You Worry Child [#6], 6 Weeks - Safe & Sound [#8], 4 Weeks - Love Me [#9], 3 Weeks - Berzerk [#3], 3 Weeks - The Way [#9], 2 Weeks - ****in' Problems [#8], 2 Weeks - Clarity [#8] aren't "real" hits either. What is a "real" hit then? Please fill me in sis.

Something impressive would be Adele's longevity just saying

The Monsters are missing that saying, "WHOAAAA Applause is platinum! 60 days in the top 10 of iTunes!!! Haters were wrong!" doesn't take away from the songs overall performance being mediocre. Yes, we get it. The song didn't flop in the US and the ~doubters~ who said it would were proven wrong. But it's just behaving like any average hit that makes it in America. And for what Lady Gaga has been cable to achieve in the past, it's slightly underwhelming. You don't see Katy stans running around saying, "60 days in the top 10 of iTunes for Roar!!!" because that's what a song with airplay, a video and performances is expected to perform like. Applause is a quick little single, but has shown no impact on the world and is doing nothing to get people interested in the ARTPOP era. It's Gaga's "Die Young" and we all know what happened to Ke$ha after that.
---
ugh can that Eminem song fall any faster so We Can't Stop can go back to #10.

All were forgotten the day they left the Hot 100 and all didn't help sell that artist's album. You're only proving Damien's point.

How do you know Applause isn't gonna sell the album when the album isn't released yet? The second single is the one which is supposed to actually sell the album and lead into the release campaign. And, anyway, those songs didn't sell albums because they're mostly from one-hit wonders/pitbulls/not-yet-released albums.
Fact is, Applause had an extremely weak start compared to expectations and is her least successful lead single by far but it also managed to hold on much better than anyone expected both on digital sales and radio. If anything, it proved a Gaga song can still slowly grow on the public instead of having a frontloaded debut and a freefall.

Well of course I'm not mentioning that song since it's still charting. However, Clarity will fall into the same bucket of EDM songs like Don't You Worry Child, Alive, Let Me Love You, etc. where they go 1-2x platinum and are never heard of the next year. Nothing misguided about my post at all.

Pre-orders are/were awful (and I'm assuming still awful since Monsters haven't posted about its position in awhile). And don't tell me pre-orders aren't important when Monsters jumped the gun after that whole "ARTPOP #1 in ___ countries! Broke Madonna's record!" mess was running rampant.

Just because they're "pitbulls" and "one hit wonders" doesn't detach from my point. They didn't sell the albums, fact. Why? Because they were quick forgettable hits. Ke$ha is an established artist and Die Young was a success (bigger success than Applause even) but why did her album flop? Cause that's just what the song was. A mediocre sized hit.

You guys still don't get it. I've already explained this, but yes go Applause. Proving the haters wrong with its top 10 iTunes longevity.

I reckon that I Love It and Cups were pretty big hits... I still hear I Love It often to this day. Not to mention that if Applause is in the top 10 for yet another week, it'll be on par with other hits Come & Get It and Treasure. Applause has become a "real" hit in the US, no matter which way you put it.

It has been rising on pre-orders I believe lately (#1 on Amazon for a few days). It dropped extremely low worldwide because she has not once promoted "Applause" or the album worldwide. She has not released any promo singles or done any promo even in the United States for the past 4 weeks. It will rise a lot when "Venus" is released and the promo machine gets going.

Not you comparing Lady Gaga as an album seller to Ke$ha. If you really think ARTPOP is going to perform similar to Warrior, it will definitely be interesting to see the results when it is released.

Pre-orders are hardly awful. It is currently #1 on Amazon and had nearly 50K iTunes preorders in ita first two weeks (still the album cover and tracklist aren't updated on iTunes). It's obvious not fans aren't gonna purchase a full album which they don't know anything about just based on a song, especially in an age when you can listen to a full album before buying.
Ke$ha may be estabilished but her album selling history is a bit different to Gaga's. Born This Way was shifting more copies worldwide during the Marry The Night era than Warrior or Cannibal during their debuts

The Khia commercial is promo whether you guys think so or not. Also she revealed the album cover, album tracklist + Aura and
But I agree, let's wait for Venus.

Stop twisting my words. Where did I ever say, "Gaga will sell 300k albums like Warrior"? We all know she'll sell more. But comparing each situation is allowed. Ke$ha had a decent hit -> led to underpforming album sales. Gaga had a decent hit -> will possibly lead to underperforming album sales.
