Death doesn't make you an icon but it plays a huge part on who becomes an icon. When people die in their prime that's the part that lives on of their lives, not any failure, attempts to achieve success again, or "ungraceful" aging. I mean, why are people like James Dean icons? Extends to musicians as well.
