Just a little history
First Rock song after the war was a song by Ike Turner, after that Rock n Roll started and then Elvis left the States, Chuck Berry got jailed, Eddy Cochran and Buddy Holly (the day the music died) died
Rock n Roll was dead.
After that crooner took over again, no self written songs, only singles sold.
In the beginning of the 60's Bob and the Beatles started the first albums with mostly cover songs and then with their second albums the watershed they wrote the songs them self and Bob came out with the Freewheeling 3 month before the second album of the Beatles, sure the Beatles were more for the kids but lol Bob was as much important for the music after the Rock n Roll era as The Beatles in terms of writing, concept album, developing the sound.
Lol Bob is nowhere like the Beatles is like saying 1000 screaming kids are more important than one intellectual.
