NG Presents: Top 20 Albums of 2007 (Part I) # 20-16
20. Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
+ Best Tracks: Love Is a Losing Game, Rehab, You Know I'm No Good, Tears Dry On Their Own, Just Friends +
- I said this earlier. I loved how she blends her vocal with modern music. "Back to Black" have many potential tracks, such as Rehab (a mega-hit for her career), Love Is a Losing Game (sorrow side of love she have been through), and You Know I'm No Good (a track about how she cheated herself). Amy wrote various heart-broken lyrics that she knew everyone could relate to, and transcends those lyrics into great tracks for her album.
19. Across the Universe: Soundtrack
+ Best Tracks: Across the Universe, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Hey Jude, All My Loving. I Am the Walrus +
- First of all, this film is ****ing amazing. The soundtrack is as great as the film with songs cover ranging from The Beatles to John Lennon. The casts did these cover justice especially Jim Sturgess's "Across the Universe" and T.V. Carpio's version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand". Honestly, I havn't heard a movie soundtrack this awesome in a damn while, I mean forget "Hairspray" & "Dreamgirls". These covers are awesome and there is even a special appearance from U2's Bono singing on "I Am the Walrus". I'd say "Across the Universe" FTW!
18. Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold
+ Best Tracks: Afterlife, Almost Easy, Lost, Scream, Gunslinger +
- Their self-titled sophomore effort, "Avenged Sevenfold" definitely brought the rock side out of my music taste. Tracks like "Afterlife" and "Almost Easy" are the key tracks on the album for me. Their sound still remain the same for most part yet they tried new stuff like country. Anyway, this album is pretty much what I called a journey to life after "City of Evil".
17. Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
+ Best Tracks: Make It Wit Chu, 3's & 7's, Suture Up Your Future, Sick, Sick, Sick+
- One of my favorite rock albums this year have to include "Era Vulgaris". This album is yet Queens of the Stone Age best effort. One of the album's standout tracks, "Make It Wit Chu", is an honest blues mellow sound while the album's gentler digressions, like "Suture Up Your Future", reveal Homme's softer side. The band still kept their rock sound with tracks like "3's & 7's" and "Sick, Sick, Sick". Therefore, if you have an alternative crave, this is a cure and must have album.
16. Timbaland - Presents: Shock Value
+ Best Tracks: Miscommunication, Apologize, Bounce, The Way I Are, Time+
- Man! What a diverse album coming from the top dog producer of our time. Timbaland continued to stay on a roll after his huge success producing Nelly Furtado's Loose and Justin's FutureSex/LoveSound. He released his best effort bringing many genres with collaborations from today's top artists from R&B singer Keri Hilson, 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, to Fall Out Boy, The Hives, and band on the rise, OneRepublic. If you havn't heard this album, I supposed you have been living under a rock.
Number 18 & 17 on my top 30 joints coming later tonight. I think. lol.
