I think exams should be timed, but the timing needs be reasonable. You have exams where you need to show your work as well.

I hate when I don't finish the exam in time. It's so frustrating when you fail the exam because of it. It's not like u didn't learn or something.

The Gov wish to treat us equally w/ the same expectations and principles, but when it comes down to it, your speed/time efficiency does determine your test completion. Some people write slower.

Yes because part of what tests are assessing is your ability to apply what you know under lots of pressure as quickly as possible.

No, but then again if there were no time limits I would sit there all day. I always use all the time, even if I finish early (which rarely happens) I sit there and double or triple check my work. I hate time limits.

Honestly, no. I don't think that the pressure of the time limit allows one to fully express their ideas and convey a deeper understanding of the material in question.

It may be true that pressure will be applied in "real life", but what good is preparing you for that if an examination fails to show whether you even understand the material? Perhaps the further one gets into education, the more often time limits should be applied so that students are still prepared for the future, but still have time to show what they know.

Yes they should shorten the times, I always finish fast and feel awkward standing up when so many people are still writing.

If you know it then statistics say you will see the right answer within 12 seconds (on multiple choice) or you will take about 10 seconds to form an outline in your head (for open ended questions).

So if you know it then every exam is about adequately timed. If you don't know it why waste time and sit there all day?

Actually in that case you should check your work and leave. No reason to have other kids suffer just because they aren't as fast as a test taker as you
