Are you here for a person intentionally their life in order to relieve pain and/or suffering? Do you believe a person should be able to decide their own fate? Is it a violation of the Hippocratic Oath that healthcare professionals take? Do you support it in the cases of depression or just for terminally ill patients?
Yes if you're suffering and are mentally capable of making the decision then you should be able to make that call.
So do you think it should be passive as in just denying your body treatment say you have a terminal illness or do you feel like physician assisted suicide is moral?
I will echo what the first two responses said. Anyone who is suffering and who no longer has a proper quality of life has every right to make that kind of decision.
I totally support it for terminal patients. If someone is in a proper state of mind to decide, and is enduring significant suffering as a result of a terminal disease, they should be able to end their life with dignity.
The US health care system is messed up in this regard. We'll force people to "live" on tubes and respirators for years, even if they're not consciously aware of anything, or force them to live out their last few weeks in pain as cancer decimates their body, etc. I hope I don't go like that.
And that's part of the reason why healthcare costs are so high in this country... we insist on extending crappy quality of life for longterm diseases instead of funneling the money elsewhere. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if they're right, but I know some people feel that the "search for a cure" to cancer could be going a lot better if people didn't profit so much from lengthy cancer treatments (which still don't guarantee survival, of course).
Yes. quality of live is so much more important than quantity, and a lot of people overlook that. No one should have to live through excruciating pain just because others don't agree. A person should be able to decide when they want to leave for whatever reason. Even if they're not in any physical pain, someone can still have absolutely no will to live and it would be unfair to force them to live in despair.

That's why I feel like everyone should have a living will. I do and I clearly state that if my quality of life can no longer be maintained then pull the plug.
I believe that a person should always be able to determine their own fate assuming they are in the proper condition to reach the best conclusion. I wouldn't be comfortable supporting physician-assisted suicide of any form or under any name if the patient has a relatively good chance of living for a significant amount of time without significant distress, but I'm also in no position to tell someone that they can't decide to end their life due to severe chronic or terminal medical ailments. It's a very complex issue and I don't think I could take a solid stance.
As a law student this **** is sooo interesting.
Not gonna write an essay but yas I'm all for.
Imo people have to right to end THEIR life whenever they want to.
Fundamental law to mankind.
Proud of ma country for making it legal

Not sure exactly. I think if the person is going through an intense amount of pain, and is going to die anyway within the following months then yes. But then again, you never know when someone may recover, so I really don't know. For people being kept alive just on tubes or are in comas should be let go.
