Sky Ferreira's vocal hemorrhage forces her to cancel tour
Sky Ferreira is disappointed to announce that on doctor's orders she is forced to cancel the remaining dates she had confirmed supporting Vampire Weekend. She wishes to send her heartfelt apologies to both Vampire Weekend and her fans for the inconvenience her vocal injury has caused.
She had previously stated that this situation would only affect shows this week in Tucson, Albuquerque and Tulsa. However Sky will now not be rejoining Vampire Weekend for their Nashville, Kansas City and Grand Prairie dates as she had hoped.
Not wanting to disappoint her fans by canceling without notice, Sky performed on Monday Oct 1 in San Diego, after her initial diagnosis. Playing the concert led to a hemorrhage of her vocal chords that was just diagnosed this afternoon. This has been an on-going issue with Sky since her performance at this year's SXSW festival.
While Sky is extremely frustrated and saddened about the forthcoming cancellations she is at the same time relieved to have her vocal chord issues finally diagnosed correctly. Ferreira's Ear, Nose and Throat doctor has prescribed complete vocal rest for the forthcoming 2 weeks. Sky is hoping to resume her regularly scheduled shows with the record release show on October 27 at the El Rey in Los Angeles. Sky's debut album Night Time, My Time is being released on October 29 via Capitol Records and she is touring with the Smith Westerns in November. The dates are listed below.
Sky had been on tour with Vampire Weekend since September 19 including their show at Brooklyn's Barclay's Center. The New York Post wrote of her performance, "The real revelation turned out to be opening act Sky Ferreira ... (who) showcased her superb voice in a selection of hook-infested songs that had the sparkle of 1980s Madonna."
