As a non Anglo I say British english is the one harder to understand. You think you understand English until you hop on Eurostar and arrive in London - suddenly you barely comprehend what everyone around you is saying - you sort of feel like "did I land in the middle of the taping of one of those BBC comedies?"
But still British english is more comfortable on the ear. American english, despite being easier to understand, can get a bit grating (due to it being nasal - especially when spoken by high pitch teenage girls.
alsmdnsksm Edge you're a mess.
But American is the easier accent to understand. IKE at the Notherh accents in the UK tho; they're both confusing and irritating.
Depends. Both places have quite a few variations of their accents, depending on the location. E.g. someone from Newcastle or Scotland is much harder for me to understand than someone from London.
As a whole though, American accents are probably easier to understand than British ones.
Which English accent is easier to understand, British or American?
American. Everyone from the north of England and then Scotland, Wales, Ireland is harder. North of England includes me lol. My accent isnt that broad I don't think lol. Any Yorkshire ATRLers??
I can tell American accent is easier so it's the one I've decided to use
It sounds more like the words are written (even though they refuse to pronounce a hard t )
