Yes, the fact that Sinead is no one's poster child for sexism or misogyny, therefore this thread is ridiculous and no one was "gathered" at all. Amanda's interpretation is ridiculous (aside from her acknowledging that she doesn't agree with Miley's actions, though she doesn't say why. )
Good, although you should understand that making threads like this makes it seem quite the opposite.

No, you just make wild assumptions and go on tangents instead of staying on topic. That's what you should understand.

It's not about not supporting Miley Cyrus, she's just an exemple here, there's a wider meaning to all of that. y'all should read and try to understand before throwing ur comments like that.
+ I don't think Sinead got a different opinion about Rihanna and that vid' u got on ur avi. I don't like Cyrus but it's about women and sexuality in general that we are speaking here.

This statement can be used for virtually any other oppressed group and it wouldn't make a lick of sense. It isn't okay, in general, to try to police what someone else does. That's just true for everyone regardless of whether or not they belong to an oppressed group.
The biggest problem within feminist circles, however, are those who want to persecute other women who say, "Hey, you're a bad look for the movement, you're a bad look for the progression of women in society."
There's a difference between the feminists who got riled up over Beyonce titling her tour, "The Mrs. Carter Show" (or Lorde's Lana comments) and the ones who are speaking out against Miley's actions.
Miley is not a good look. Point blank. There's nothing sexist, overtly, or internalized about saying Miley is not a good look. Her being a public figure means she's seen by the masses, of course her behavior will be criticized. The judgement argument doesn't hold up.
Of course Miley isn't Lena Dunham-ing it up, but she can still be criticized.

There were no wild assumptions whatsoever in any of my posts. It's a fact that in apologist threads like these (or in SYG) when questioning Miley's image or actions people love to throw around words & phrases like overly sensitive, reverse racism, and sexism/misogyny. A fact. Stop acting as if I'm wildly off topic.

I'm tired of shallow people like you here on ATRL. Rihanna is right for just firing back at people and insulting them. since those who take the time ( like this lady) to talk about things in a mature way are getting responses like this.

We can't say the same about her career tho. and oh that fave of yours who's on your avi is one of the first females to be totally nude in a vid' and most of her material is sexually chared. so don't think Sinead and her flawless letter think otherwise about her

You realize that's what other feminists think about you, right? They think your judgmental attitude is what's holding the movement back. To them, the movement wasn't about making women conform to more socially acceptable standards, it was about liberating women to have the same freedom of expression and decision making as men. Your school of thought is the "biggest problem within feminist circles" because you are explicitly against intelligent discussion. You just want to throw around buzzwords and snap judgement calls and not talk about the logic or reason of the situation, or whether the judgement you're making is fair or out of line. You dismiss anyone who disagrees with you instantly by calling them an "apologist" and going off on tangents. You point-blank refuse to consider points of view that aren't your own. And that's anti-feminist.

Jameson, Miley isn't on trial. Nobody's trying to burn her at the stake, but she is a bad look. You're saying my calling Miley a bad look is anti-feminist? Try anti-Miley because Miley's not the flipside or the alternative of feminism. & if I'm an anti-feminist, what is Miley? Seeing that she is the living, breathing, walking, talking, human embodiment of negative stereotypes, I can't even begin to imagine what you'd describe her as. Maybe a serial perpetuator? Going by what you've posted so far, maybe more along lines of a strong-willed, free spirit.
It's cute how you isolated one part of my post even though I'm pretty sure I said:

Here's an analogy and then I'm completely done with this topic:
Chief "Dead or in Jail" Keef is a bad look for the black community, as is Clarence "Yessa Massa" Thomas ol Uncle Tom ass. And I wish somebody would call me self-loathing, contradictory, anti-black progression, anti-freedom of expression, or racist for saying that.
There's nothing misogynistic, contradictory, or sexist about Sinead calling a spade a spade, Miley IS a bad look for women everywhere.
Reminds me of those people who try to justify their attention whoring actions by saying, "Only God can judge me!" Give me a break. The only thing Amanda "gathered" in her novel was herself, because she doesn't agree with Miley's actions, but won't elaborate why. I bet anything in the world she would've contradicted her entire argument had she done that.

+ lemme add that the "apologist" part here is irrelevant since none of the people arguing in here are Miley fans (well I assume since her name isn't anywhere in your profiles) it's about women's freedom that we are talking here. and the fact that Robyn-something didn't get any sh.t after that perormance proves that it WAS and IS a sexist backlash.
