I noticed a lot of people, particarly teachers, prefer to make their thumb moist by licking it when they turn the page of a book.



What are your thoughts on this

No and I never understood why people do it

Most people do it so they have less of a risk of getting paper cuts. It also makes it easier to turn the page.

No. I've gotten a paper cut like once in my life anyways, I almost died but meh..I like the adrenaline rush.

It's a lot easier to just "swipe" to the next page than to actually try and turn it by the corner. My hands are usually dry (but not in the "ashy" sense) and it's hard to do the swiping motion without any sort of grip.

But most of the time I'll have an eraser on hand that I can use that to turn the page (retractable ones work best). }: )

I do if the book consists of that annoying glossy paper that makes it harder to flip through pages

Just wondering, how do you guys feel about library books knowing that people have probably done this to the pages.

Maybe that's what gives old books their smell. }: /

I do it if I think pages are stuck together and my hands are too dry to get any grip to separate them.

We didn't have those where I used to work in accounting, but what I did was I wrapped a bunch of rubber bands around the tip of a pencil and used that instead of getting my saliva involved. I don't really care about that practice, I just don't prefer to do it.
