Actually the terrible lyrics and video of Judas almost ruined the BTW era(Her career).
But TEOG saved it a little bit. It had a chance to become a bigger hit.Unfortunately, the video of TEOG is also terrible.

It was definitely the era in general. She hasn't had a UK #1 since Telephone.

It was people getting sick with her in general - It began with Born This Way, and it just exploded with Judas. I think that people overracted to the song and video just because they were fed up, and Juads had everything for people to fuss about - the religion, the overdone video, the overdone costumes and the overdone lyrics. Ever since then the public lost interest with her, and she's struggling in gaining their interest back.

Not really because The Edge of Glory and Yoü and I went on to do well. Plus, the only country that Judas really did bad digitally was the US. It's sold about 2.5 million worldwide.

If you want to place the blame of "Gaga losing her digital power" on anything, I would just say the overexposure of the Born This Way era.

The Born This Way era kind of did, Applause is the first step in gaining it back though definitely.

Judas has sold 7 million copies WW. I don't lie!!1!!!!11!!

But don't you think TEOG could've done a million times better without Judas beforehand? Not only did the messy second-single-eclipsed-by-promo-single-now-third-single situation happen, stunting both songs, but Judas in general annoyed a lot of people.

Personally I never liked Judas when it came out (it has only recently grown on me a bit) and I thought it was a huge, huge mistake. And I was right

BTW was successful over all, but that strategy used throughout the era wasn't coherent.
It was easy to tell that the label and her team had disagreements as to what the creative direction would be, the single choices and other things.

Also IMO, she was being too much of a gay rights crusader.
I'm gay myself, however, she was getting a little too pushy with it.

Songs like sheisse, government hooker, bloody mary, heavy metal lover should have been singles.

i agree judas killed the momentum of era
but TEOG did saved it a bit buther overexposure totally killed the era near the end -YAI and MTN
