Still, even those two albums combined didn't sell that amount of copies, it was just an adjustment on how could it be. Not Monster starting to brag about it.

That's why they were required by their team no doubt to make controversial comments about Britney. P!nk and her "damn Britney Spears" line in her lead single of her first successful album. Avril and her countless comments about Britney and her sex appeal as well as her art. Amy Lee said something about wanting to strange Britney in an alley way and her sex symbol status too.
Justin the biggest popstar of 2013 constantly named dropped Britney and kicked started his career in 2002 using her.
Shakira had nothing in common with Britney, but it didn't stop the media and GP labeling her as the "new Britney". Most likely because Britney became the standard for popstars and to this day still is.
Beyonce may not have been impacted by Britney through music, but she did culturally. After the 2002 cheating scandal that hurt Britney's reputation as a sweet yet sexy girl who can tiptoe between the two images, it was the perfect time for Beyonce to pounce and take fill that void. In 2003 when Beyonce went solo, it was a fresh start and she was marketed differently. She was marketed as the sweet yet sexy girl who can tiptoe between the two images that's apparent even today. It also explains why she had a huge personality switch from her rude Destiny Child days in '01 to sudden sweet and sexy girl in '03. Christina even made the comparison and some called Beyonce the "urban Britney".

Hold up here.
Aguilera was doing bubblegum pop but she was different enough that I wouldn't really say that Britney's career influenced Aguilera as an artist. Reflection (for Disney's Mulan) came out before Baby One More Time did, and I'd say doing a song for a children's movie is at the least a bit bubblegum of her. Not to mention her strong vocals and personality were vastly different than Britney's. She always had a bit more edge. Britney may have made it easier for her to find success but I would not say Christina has Britney's influence in her work.
Avril, P!nk, Amy Lee may have been marketed as anti-Britneys but that doesn't mean that Britney influenced them at all. It means that there was a market that was being untapped: the young girls who did not identify with sugar-sweet Britney Spears. If you're going to claim influence there has to be something similar, not that they were opposites.
With Shakira too you're just stretching truths to find influence. Britney was a huge star, anyone could be "the new Britney" but that doesn't show how Shakira as an artist was influenced by her, just that she came chronologically after her.
And Beyonce.. that's the biggest stretch of them all. Beyonce coming to fill a void means that she was influenced by Britney Spears? There's no way. The only link you've found between them is that Beyonce acted sweet. That's because Beyonce is sweet. The "rude Destiny's Child days" was a fabrication of the media because of the member switch ups.
I'm not saying Britney isn't influential. She most definitely is. But not for these girls.

Umm no this is a complete and utter reach, the day Beyonce becomes the black britney. Is the day the racist media acknowledges the fact that Britney is nothing more than a white version of janet jackson, so all in all it ain't ever gonna happen. Beyonce even during her so called rude days, still had the image of a sweet southern Bell back in 97 enough time before Brit debuted. Beyonce was never a black version of britney the only reason some claim that is because of people having the tendency to label minority artists as a different version to white artists, but would never do the same if it was th eother way around. If anything Beyonce's nice/sexy yet private image which she always was influenced heavily by Janet.

Only people near their 30's remember Britney's peak era.

I was talking about impact, not influence. It doesn't matter if the claims of the media had no base, the point is that they would do anything to stick Britney's name everywhere as that's a testament to her IMPACT.

Read my post above. By the way, Beyonce wasn't seen as a sweet southern bell. The media and GP saw her as a rude conceited girl who kicks out her band members because they don't obey her. They even did a skit in SNL and MADtv.

Well you were talking about impact as you quoted me who was talking about influence. So which one are we really talking about? They are similar, but you're right, two different meanings. Still, Britney's impact doesn't stretch to those ladies. For example would it make sense to say, "You can see Britney's major impact in the work of Avril Lavigne" more than " You can see Alainis' major impact in the work of Avril Lavigne"?
And yes, the media saw Beyonce as rude at times, but that doesn't mean she was rude. And I doubt that Beyonce was thinking "Oh no one thinks Britney is sweet, let me just take that role now, I guess I'll give up appearing rude."

I think that what ExHuman meant was that anyone old enough to accurately remember Britney's peak would have to be near their thirties now (around 14-18 at the time) otherwise you were a child and were only remembering it from your view of the world at large which is likely to be restricted to what you and your friends liked/thought.

I'm not sure what it is you're saying that they don't do, but if we're talking about marketing teams vs. artists... why then are we going to credit Britney for all this impact when she is the product of marketing.

however,
- Taylor Swift - she has potential but not yet
- Miley Cyrus - no, shes just the "in" thing right now
- Lady Gaga - matched with enormous potential, needs a little more time to surpass
- Rihanna - she's well within range
- Katy Perry - better 'work bitch'
|
Gaga wasn't EVERYWHERE and EVERYTHING for the first five years of her career.
She can't and won't surpass Britney. Britney was the definition of pop culture during that time.

Marketing teams give the artist a push, but it ultimately all comes down to the artist's starpower and if they were born stars or not. If you have the two, then you make a ton of impact.

Absolutely not. Not Gaga, Taylor or anyone's prime was as big as Britney's.
