Where do I start?



- Madonna has the most overrated discography of anyone I know. I can't stand her voice, I hate 95% of everything she's ever done. **** to anyone who says she's some kinda indisputable legend, I use maybe Frozen, Open Your Heart and Beautiful Stranger and nothing more. The way she's held up to such high regard for a back catalogue of crap is baffling.

- Besides Gaga, Nicki Minaj (when she's on her game) and Rihanna, the new breed of pop girls and the one that looks set to follow (Demi, Selena, Miley etc) are all pretty ****ing atrocious. In comparison to the girls of the early and mid 2000s, this generation just doesn't have any notable star quality. More than ever it's about the production, the look and appealing to the middle of the road and the unwashed masses rather than going out and out to make memorable, great music. So bored of everyone playing it safe and making radio-friendly fluff. Cher Lloyd is my little shining beacon as she goes out her way to not play it safe, to always be a bit edgy, to say what her record label don't want her to say and to create brilliant pop tunes while she's at it.

- Radio needs to be taken out of the calculations of the Hot 100 entirely. Maybe 10% as an absolute maximum. So sick of reading about the latest "Clear Channel radio deal". So sick of seeing great artists not being able to make it because "they aren't getting enough airplay". ********.

- UK popstars will always be forever better, more risky and more exciting than the ones from the US, and that's just fact.

Lana Del Rey is boring as ****. Her lyrics are nothing special and vocally she sounds like a drawling goat.
Ed Sheeran is the most average ginger songwriter on the planet. There is plenty out there that are better than him.
Taylor Swift is a great songwriter but a waste of space because she refuses to use her potential.
'21' by Adele is not as great of an album as everyone seems to think so. She's just good at using her limited vocal range.
Miley Cyrus is just misunderstood. By herself and others alike. She's lost.

Demi Lovato is the most underrated singer to ever come into the mainstream. She is so much more versatile than most of what is successful these days and will stand the test of time once she figures out who she really is as an artist.

Mark my words. Give her a couple of years and she will be the prime of the music industry. Just like all those vocal legends before her. Her problem is literally only ONE thing. Just one. Her label.

Edit: Ellie Goulding possess the most unique voice of the mainstream currently and that's why EDM producers want her on their tracks. She makes their music seem much more interesting and appealing.

Just a few opinions :

Katy perry frustrates me a lot.
She releases safe inoffensive music in order to sell, no risk, no innovation. Down the middle pop, radio friendly cute bubbly pop. So predictable.
She started out so well too. Sad.

Applause is much better than BTW and deserves to be no.1. Its some of her best work. It deserves much better.

Demi Lovato, had she left for RCA, could have been one of the major popstars now instead of Miley. Instead shes stuck at XF.

Larry Rudolph is currently the best manager in the biz.

Britney will always & forever outshine Timberlake & Xtina. Because she is better.

Riri & Chris Brown should eventually reconcile. Apart from that one incident which was sad, there is love there.

Taylor Swift is a nice person with incredible talent and will last for 20+ years and be a very respected artist. Well-deserved IMO.

Miley Cyrus should never have dated Liam. he was terrible. Even tho her new approach is risky & risks alienation, the music she has put out is simply brilliant.

Rihanna and Gaga are the premiere pop stars of this generation.

I've figured out Katy's appeal. I don't care for her though.

Beyonce is "good" at best at what she's does. She's not GREAT as some would believe.

I'm hoping rnb music will make a comeback. Variety is what is needed on radio.

Janet is more influential than Madonna.

I mean, she's got like 5 songs from which 2 were Bubbling under hot 100 songs and that's all but whatever.

And for me..mhm britney sucks, taylor swift is boring..

When she's not doing her baby voice, especially during her earlier recordings, I think Britney Spears has a nice voice.

Might as well do some more:

-Rihanna puts out great pop music, better than the most of the girls, but there's nothing memorable about her hits. I do really like her, but she has zero charisma or starpower; I don't see a career for her past age 30.
-Michael Jackson's music, performances, et cetera do nothing for me. He also molested children.
-Beyonce's career in pop music is over. She'll never be a force on top 40 radio (urban is a different story) again; luckily her team is smart enough to know that so they push the "Beyonce is a legend" card.
-Say what you want about her being fake, shallow and a bad songwriter, but Lana Del Rey is more interesting and compelling than any popstar in the last 10 years. Her great album sales and fanbase for someone shut out of pop radio is a testament to this. If only her music was melodic enough for US radio.
-Britney's pre-2004 performances are so overrated. Am I supposed to be slayed by her moving her arms fast while lipsyncing?
-The MDNA tour sucked; it was just a regurgitation of every Madonnaism in the past 10 years.
-P!nk is way more influential for current pop music than Britney or Beyonce.
-Her music, along with Kelly Clarkson's, won't be remembered, though.
-Bjork's first 2 albums are better than most of her later ones. Post > Homogenic.
-Justin Timberlake's schtick is annoying AF.
-Taylor Swift "slaying" is a testament to how boring the GP's taste is.
-Janet Jackson is more deserving of current success than JLo, Mariah.

Dawn Richard is the best artist of the decade... Her work is truly brilliant! It's a shame her work isn't recognized.

carrie underwood is such a boring singer. i really dont understand why shes so succesful. theres nothing interesting there for me.

i prefer the remix of summertime sadness to the original. by a lot.

this is music related: i dont care at all about critical acclaim as long as i enjoy something. when i see sheep who let other people tell them what to like, i get annoyed.

selena gomez cant sing, but stars dance is an enjoyable album, and its way better than prism.
btw, OOTB is my favorite katy album.
