We are colonized by Spain for 300 years and Spanish is in our school curriculum not until 1980 they cross out Spanish subjects on school so the new generation don't know Spanish at all but my grandfather and my father knows Spanish
Other tagalog words are derived from spanish for example like:
-uno, singko, sais, siete etc. etc.
-katilla
-sardinas
-kutsara / tinidor
