I'm not sure I follow that logic? Yeah, the universe is infinite, and therefore the
potential for aliens intelligent enough to contact us exists, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they
have existed or
do exist. And if they do exist, who's to say they haven't already tried to communicate with us? And if they have, how would we even begin how to decipher any alien messages? And how would we respond?
It took millions of years for mankind to evolve to our intelligence level, so presumably it would take even longer for
more intelligent life to develop elsewhere in the universe, meaning we'd need to look further and further away to older and older places in the universe in order to find planets old enough and suitable enough to be able to facilitate that kind of evolution.
