Part of it is a cultural thing. My sister's mom (I have an incredibly weird family dynamic) was deported and then went back to Mexico and had kids there and the way they teach newborn care is completely different. As an American, we have a hugely different system that involves being much more gentle and time-consuming, whereas my sister's mom learned to be as efficient as possible. Both ways garnered the same results, it's just a huge cultural shock to see someone treating a baby so differently. When I as an American watched her take care of her kid, I mistook it for abuse the first time. However, when she saw me take care of her kid she thought I came across as inexperienced, un-assured and time consuming.

That is NOT right

It is when you're experienced, have other patients in desperate need and don't have the same stipulations. I'm from America, too, and just because we do this more slowly doesn't mean this man from a different background is a child abuser for moving more quickly. Use your heads, guys
