This girl is ALWAYS mentioning other celebrities more famous and successful than her in a negative sense and it's frankly becoming really annoying and overwhelming and she isn't even that established of an artist to be behaving in such a way.

I think what annoys me about Lorde is that she's 16 and acts like she knows everything.

However, at the end of the day, I still respect her right to have and vocalize her opinion.

All women should be feminists. A woman that is opposed to feminism is the equivalent of an Uncle Tom in my opinion. How can you not be in support of the advancement of yourself? What would possess you to 'worship' the group that oppresses yours instead of call out their ****?

i said it was ****ed up and it makes no sense to me! but who am i to tell a woman i'm right and she's wrong? and besides, people aren't receptive to that sort of thing anyway. no one is going to become a feminist because you tell them they're wrong for not being one.

Gaga was 22 and new to the game when she said it. She eventually redacted that statement, which as a whole isn't as bad as people think it is. People are just removing that ONE part of the entire long interview/statement and making it sounds worse than it is.


Also, to the OP, Katy Perry also said something the along the lines of not being a feminist because she doesn't hate men. In fact, because of the way feminism is marketed and showcased to the world, a lot of women are under the impression that feminism = hating men, so Lorde's statement could just a general one and not directed at anyone in particular. However, she should have a bigger problem with the way the movement is marketed and less with women innocently not understanding the movement as a whole. Not everyone spends loads of time on the Internet and reads up on things like feminism and other social justice-related movements.
