Shakira should have more stans here. Her music is amazing and she always enjoys worldwide success.
Both "She Wolf" and "Sale El Sol" sold more than 2.5m WW, and that is without the US. Nobody else currently is successful everywhere but has little to no presence in the US. It's impressive.
right and not only that, Shakira did something that rarely happens, Shakira made her way into the brazilian market, you guys have no idea how hard is for a hispanic artist to make it big in Brazil. Juanes tried, Thalia tried, Belinda tried, no one could make a name like her. Shakira topped the brazilian charts, she made versions in portuguese for her songs bc the demand in Brazil was too big, yet people would sing the lyrics in spanish.
And you think Miley herself had anything to do with that? Give the credit to Disney's diabolical marketing department.
I mean, from a business perspective, the premise of Hannah Montana was pure genius. By day, she's an ordinary girl, but by night, she's a pop sensation, thus giving little girls the idea that rich and famous pop singers are just like them. That's why little girls loved Hannah; she was basically a surrogate for the target audience, living the life that they dream of living.
Where did their marketing department go wrong with Demi, Lizzie, and Selena then?
It's because Hannah Montana is bigger than Miley and she has that sweet and cute image still latched onto her. Once Miley becomes bigger than Hannah then no one will be shocked. It's not any different to Britney Spears in the early 00s.
I know. It's just hilarious seeing something so simple that has been rehashed by numerous of child stars throughout the years/decades explode as if it's never happened. But Miley is smarter than she looks - all of this is plotted. The real Madonna of our generation

Give the credit to whoever you want. But she was the figurehead, she was the brand and she still is the brand. Marketing teams try all the time, but the few who make it big have something extra that all of the other failures or half-baked successes didn't. Hannah Montana is dead and gone and Miley is the biggest superstar in the world right now. She is charismatic. She is polarizing. She is relatable. She is talented. And she knows how to play the game.
