If an artist disses another artists work then it is a diss to that artist whose work it is plain and simple. It might not mean that she doesn't like Selena Gomez in general but what it does mean is she dissed her in that moment. And by the way there have been other times when she's shaded Selena in a passive aggressive under the radar way. When she favorited a tweet that laughed and pointed out the fact that she tweeted someone else who posted/covered her song but ignored Selena Gomez when she did the same.
For the last time FEMINISM is NOT about a woman not being submissive or not being dependent on her man or a woman being independent and nonsexual. Feminism is about WOMEN having the RIGHT to choose what they want to do, the messages they want to send, the way they want to dress and the paths they want to take in life. Anti-feminism is not a woman being a housewife, or being submissive, or dependent on her man. Anti-feminism is any woman dictating what women as a gender should and should not do. Because in reality what is the difference between a man dictating what women should do and a woman dictating what women should do? Either way it takes away the freedom of women to decide for themselves and that is what feminism is; letting women decide for themselves what they want to do and getting equal treatment in all aspects of their lives regardless of the choice they make.

Being financially dependent upon a man for your livelihood is not feminist. This notion seems to offend you. Why? I don’t know. Women can make choices. Not all those choices are going to be feminist. Such is life. If I get elected to public office and choose to make legislation restricting women’s reproductive rights, then guess what? That’s not a feminist decision, even though I’m a woman making a choice. If I’m a stripper, popping my pus on a pole so men will throw dollars, then that’s not feminist. That doesn’t mean that I don’t do a bunch of other things that are (feminist). If feminism means everything, then it essentially means nothing. CAGI aint a feminist song. Deal. Does that mean that people should get their pitchforks and torches and head for Selena’s house? No, but that still aint gone make the song feminist. As far as I can tell, Lorde hasn’t given any indication that she’s anti-sex or against women expressing their sexuality. She just doesn’t seem to be here for songs like CAGI where women passively coo at men to come get their goodies whenever men feel the urge.
There a lot of things that can be said about this Lorde chick. She’s precocious and seemingly very aware and astute for her age. I would think that most women don’t get into this type of theory until their first women’s studies class at university, and yet at 16, Lorde apparently knows what time it is. This is very brave of her to sport the feminist tag, given that many of our faves and even the CEO of Yahoo deny/denounce the term, even though they’re benefiting from the work of those feminists/womanists who came before them.
