Demi wins but it's not a clear win for me. Sure Demi has power in her voice and can hold a note , but she also (used to) scream a lot. Or she oversings songs like she did when she covered "Stay"
Miley has a good voice, she just has the wrong songs sometimes. Miley is caring more about performing than singing your song perfectly tho.

I think they both have very good voices. But Demi hands down. She just has that certain something special and it seems to come out of nowhere. Miley is unique and a belter. But she's often strained, pushed or just off-pitch. Demi has yards and yards of lung control in that petite body man!

I never really understand it when people say Demi screams or shouts. Yes she has volume. But that's not screaming or shouting. It's belting. And correct technique. I don't know. I'd rather have a belter than a whisperer. Not referring to anyone of course. I'm just saying...

I mean it's like saying Patti LaBelle *the Queen of Belting* is shouting or screaming. It's just a technique. A very difficult one to master.

Point is she can refrain from singing loudly too if she wants. (See her cover of Here Comes The Sun with Naya Rivera). She just doesn't choose to because she knows her technique well and uses it to her advantage.

Yes her version of Stay is ****ing wicked! She takes that thing ONE FULL OCTAVE higher than the original. And maybe it's just because Rihanna is a Contralto and therefore prefers lower key. But Demi certainly showcases a lot of vocal skill on that song. Again I don't hear the "screaming". And I'm not deluded. I understand what is a scream and what isn't.

And FYI screaming is also a talent. Just saying!

nnn not you acting like Demi has never had a messy performance where she sounded bad. And no I don't mean the MITUSA performance at the TCAs. She's had bad moments just like Miley had too. It's not like it's a crime.

I'm pretty sure she never mentioned such a thing. Yes Demi has had messy performances. Also very pitchy performances. All vocalists do. It isn't a crime. So why are people acting like Demi's preferred technique is "messy".all the time. That's garbage. She's a great vocalist... PERIOD!

If you don't prefer her technique just say so. But that would make it a subjective opinion. Not a fact.

What was that, like a week after Demi got her tonsils out?

Her tonsils affected her voice all this year. She had removed, and now she has to get used to singing again. Tonsils are a big deal when it comes to vocals. That's a part of her throat she sung with her whole entire life.

And yeah the first verse of that performance was messy, but she nailed the hook and her belts seemed to be great.
