Speaking of facts, Bengalis are an ethnic group, not a nationality. They're found in both India and Bangladesh (and not all Bangladeshis are Bengali). Also, how would you refer to a South Asian that looks like this?

So just because people in the UK refer to "South Asians" as "Asian" means it's how it should be? I didn't know that about Bengalis, but it's not like my list was exclusive to nationalities. In fact, I think ethnicity is what defines these racial classifications

I never said that in my post. I used an example of how the term is used differently in a different part of the world and said that we should be using facts, not popular usage in certain areas. And you were obviously trying to list nationalities before I corrected you. As for racial classification, ethnic groups like Bengalis are racially diverse and "Asian" is not a racial term anyway, which is what I've been trying to say from the beginning. The term was first used by the British for people in their colonies in South Asia and it just means a person from the continent. Simple as that.

Many people in India and other parts of South Asia have Mongoloid genetics. The point is that "Asian" does not equate to "Mongoloid" despite American media perpetuating that myth in the past two decades.
