"Mariska Hargitay Deserves Emmy for Season Premiere"
Seems like Mariska is coming for her second Emmy. WHO else in their 15th season?
Quote:
Two weeks ago I told you that NBC threw a unique small screening party for the 15th season premiere of “Law and Order SVU.” You don’t want to miss Mariska Hargitay in an Emmy worthy performance. It’s a riveting episode to say the least. I can’t wait to see it again. This is what I wrote:
Benson and Schreiber go through five “acts” and we saw it all without commercials. You’re unlikely to find anything else this intense on network TV or cable this season. Suffice to say Benson makes it out alive, but the episode is a psychological thriller that will take your breath away.
Social media is abuzz about Mariska Hargitay's phenomenal performance on the season premiere of Law & Order: SVU that aired on Wednesday night.
Did you catch Wednesday's season premiere of Law & Order: SVU? Have you seen television acting that even comes close to what Mariska Hargitay portrayed in her role as Olivia Benson? It's incredibly clear after watching on Wednesday that Hargitay has a gift. A gift with this kind of intensity can likely wear one down as well as provide an exhilarating high, however. And as Olivia Benson found out during her character's trials on Wednesday night, there must be a healthy balance between the two.
‘Law & Order: SVU’: Mariska Hargitay Deserves Emmy For Season Premiere
Detective Olivia Benson faced her darkest, and most intense, trial on the suspenseful season 15 premiere. Were you as enthralled as I was?
I was surprised that Mariska Hargitay didn’t get an Emmy nomination this year for her work on Law & Order: SVU – she won in 2006 and has received a total of eight nominations — and I’ll be even more surprised if she isn’t nominated next year, assuming NBC submits the Sept. 25 season premiere’s first hour for consideration. In a word, Mariska was phenomenal.
If tonight's 2-hour season premiere proved anything, it's that 14 seasons and one episode later, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf still manages to deliver the on-the-edge-of-your-seat shock value that the show's admirers still long for.
And while Elliot Stabler does not parade in and save Olivia (as much as we all want him to), Wolf makes sure to reiterate what Law and Order: SVU aficionados have known all along: Benson is the most badass cop on TV.
Welcome to season 15.
Well, as the intense, spare, and even artful episode showed, SVU has learned some new tricks of late, becoming one of the best dramas on network television in the process. It's a shift I'd noticed even before the free wine. (Honest, check my Twitter!)
It's a bizarre thing to say about any series, but Law & Order: SVU's fifteenth season could wind up being its best.
Hargitay did a superb job of showing the broken state in which her kidnapper left her, and she was able to fight back and survive the ordeal, but how will this change her?
We can almost bet that 100 percent of everyone who is a fan of the show agrees that this was Hargitay’s best performance yet.
