The same thing happened to me with "Girlfriend". I hated it when I first played it then i put it on repeat and I began to love it. This song is pretty good.

Actually you are right. It's no secret I don't like Britney but the music Britney does works for her. Britney always was dance/pop so when Britney does it it's good. Ashlee always was pop/ROCK. Ashlee is good with guitar driven pop music. Just like I don't think Britney sounds good doing guitar driven pop music, Ashlee doesn't do good with dance/pop.
i think it's great, better than 90% of "I Am Me" that's for sure. As for Peter, I'm surprised you don't like this considerind what a devoted Ashlee fan you are. No, this doesn't sound like something Britney would do. It's a bit more experimental pop-dance music, and from the way Ashlee described the upcoming album, it should be more varied than this song so chance are she's still going to stick to her pop-rock sound and just tweak it a bit.
on a separate note, if Timbaland did this good of a job w/ Ashlee, I can't wait to hear what he's done for Madonna.

It took me like 5 plays in a row to like "Girlfriend", I instantly fell in love with "Gimme" when it premiered on a radio station here. And it was in the morning so all day at school that day I was like "gimme gimme more" and everyone was like what the hell r u singing. lol
