But I think that "Die Young" was the perfect lead single choice... I mean it really was perfect. #2 for a lead single is still impressive, it was just everything afterwards that wasn't great. Miley's era is doing amazingly, and her lead single peaked at #2, too. 'The Fame Monster' era was probably Gaga's best era, and her lead single from that era, "Bad Romance", peaked at #2. Failing to get a #1 single doesn't necessarily define the fate for rest of the era... the shooting really was an unfortunate occurrence, and I think that if "Die Young" was allowed to slay for a little while longer and K$ didn't have that associated with her, radios wouldn't hesitate to play "C'Mon" and it'd smash as well.
