This happens all the time. I don't see the problem. She didn't end up using the instrumental so he gave it to another artist. Why let a perfectly good instrumental go to waste?

This. She never released the song so it got used elsewhere. This is VERY common in the production world. I'm not Luke's biggest fan and I do feel like he tends to phone it in and get lazy sometimes, but some people need to educate themselves.
