Bad news for Britney Spears: Sales are 'dismal' for the singer's Las Vegas show amid reports that she might be lip-syncing but her rep says 'not true'
After a stretch of sizzling publicity, Britney Spears has hit a bump in the road. On Monday RadarOnline reported that tickets to the singer's Britney: Piece Of Me Las Vegas show are hardly being snapped up. Also on Monday the New York Daily News claimed that Britney might be lip syncing through her new show.
But Britney's rep tells MailOnline, 'Britney will be singing. As stated before, she is in vocal training -- has been for months and she is and has been working with a choreographer for her Vegas Britney: Piece of Me show starting December 27. Her new album, which is out on December 3 will also represent this.'
Peace Of Me: Britney Spears is all smiles Saturday at iHeart Radio just before two negative reports on Monday slammed her Piece Of Me Las Vegas show
Piece Of Me, which was announced last week on Good Morning America to 1,000 screaming fans, has its run at Planet Hollywood through February 22. She's set to sing 21 hits over a 90 minute show. Her salary will be $30m for two years. Radar maintains that with only three out of 16 of her shows selling out, that's bad news for the icon. She's trailing far behind Vegas vets Celine Dion and Shania Twain, who both sold out all of their first shows in a snap. 'After spending hundreds of thousands on promo, they expected to instantly sell out all of the first 16 shows, but they didn’t come close!' a source told Radar.
The source goes on to say that 'many are considering this a disaster.'
'There are nearly 50 shows a year and the theater is small…it only holds about 4,500 people,' the source added. 'So all of this put together really isn’t looking well for Britney.' The site goes on to say that the ticket sales have to take off soon 'or else there’s going to be a lot of disappointed investors and people involved with the show.'
It prompted a virtual flood of ticket sales and hotel-room bookings. I asked Tariq Shaukat, chief marketing officer for Caesars Entertainment, for reaction from just the first 24 hours. He told me: “We’re very pleased, and, as we suspected, interest in Britney is very high from all over.” Three of her first shows apparently sold out within the first hour, and sales for the first group of 16 shows through February are still going strong five months out.
The multimillion bet on Britney has already started to pay off for Caesars Entertainment, which owns and operates Planet Hollywood. Her announcement last week in the desert just outside Las Vegas grabbed headline stories and radio and TV coverage all around the world.

Well she IS going to lip-sync. We all know that. And she's done it all throughout her career to the point no one watching her live, is expecting her to sing live anymore. So it's definitely not the problem. Why though ? Hmm...
of course her own promoters are not going to say she's not selling out the shows. They want business. If you check for tickets, you can see there are many available.
