(This is my first thread here, so I'd like to apologize in advance if I did anything incorrectly, or if this has already been posted.)

With the upcoming release of a remix bundle for Applause on September 30 (source), I think those of us who care should focus all our efforts again on supporting Applause.

Buying each remix individually will support Applause. As of now, there are eight remixes confirmed to be in the bundle. So, if just one person bought all eight of these remixes individually, rather than just purchasing the bundle as a whole, that would be eight added sales towards Applause. It is extremely important that this is the method of purchase used if one wishes to help the song on the charts. The real magic here comes in numbers. The more people that participate in this, the more benefit we'll see from it. Let's say we get a modest number of 1,000 people to buy all eight remixes. That would be an additional 8,000 sales that Applause would receive. Now let's get a bit unrealistic, just for the fun of it. If we were very focused as a fan-base, and had excellent cooperation, let's say we could get 75,000 fans to buy all eight remixes. That would be a staggering 600,000 in sales that Applause would receive. Not only would that boost it's overall sales, but a number that large would very likely put Applause at a new peak on the Hot 100, with a shot at #1 not out of sight. Just something to consider.

Oh, and one more thing. There has been an unforeseen factor: the maximum number of individual remixes one can purchase is 6, and here's why. The entire album costs $7.99. Purchasing 6 remixes will cost $7.74. Purchasing 7 remixes will cost $9.03, and since that is more than the cost of the overall album, iTunes forces the user to take advantage of the "Complete My Album" feature, which effectively negates the purpose of buying each remix individually, as it will count purchase as one sale towards the remix EP rather than towards the total single sales of Applause. So, to summarize, buy a maximum of 6 remixes, all individually, to add to Applause's single sales.

Naturally I'll be buying the remixes. Gonna put my dad's credit card to good use.

I wouldn't say practical is the right word. It could definitely be more helpful, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. The likelihood of even getting a significant amount of fans to buy the remixes is small, as unfortunate as that is.
