I'mma just take things as they are. The music speaks for itself. If she does have a sort of comeback, then awesome.
If not, I'mma stan Legend till the end regardless.

I think there can be slayage, but the situation just needs to be handled the right way
To be honest, I felt the Lotus era was in trouble before it began
There was unclear communication about when Your Body was coming out. At one point, information leaked in late 2011 about "Love Your Body" and then nothing for months

And it was a huge mistake to not release a song during Season 2 of The Voice. Maroon 5 did that and were able to capture the afterglow of Moves Like Jagger better. So a lot of momentum was lost.
Then a whole summer passed and there was such a lack of dance material that Pop radio was forced to play a payola heavy Ne-Yo song!

And by the time, they got to releasing Your Body, a shift in the kind of music pop radio plays was starting to take place, and there was more competition from more people who were in good standing at radio like Rihanna, Bruno Mars, and Kesha. She really needed to have debuted in the early summer at latest when there was no dance product out there and not a lot of big name stars.
And there was other stuff too, I don't think the radio deal was a good idea, at least not without station acknowledgement. Christina hasn't been a big played artist with her solo material on radio in a few years and she needed to do interviews for radio or at least call them up and nurture her relationship with them, and she didn't do that.
But the biggest problem was not releasing the song to iTunes immediately after it leaked. It's unheard of and unforgivable that they decided to wait 25 days before they put the song on iTunes

Someone like Taylor Swift got on a plane, her single leaked, and her label put the song on iTunes before her planed landed! The latest singles by Britney Spears, Gaga, and Katy Perry only waited a few days too after their leak to put it on sale. I mean to Christina's credit, Your Body still went to #4 on iTunes and debuted in the Top 10 of Hot Digital Songs. Compare that to other songs which were leaked for about a month before being put on sale like Ooh La La and Rock and Roll and look at their sales

But still the sales of Your Body rightfully should have been so much better if they hadn't waited.
