I don't think it necessarily has to do with population though. For example, Saudi Arabia is excluded when you click "Hide Small Countries" even though it has 29 Million, Greece is excluded with 10 Million, Argentina is excluded with 41 Million.
I think most interestingly Singapore is excluded, while Hong Kong isn't. They both have similar populations, and are of similar land area, but the one that isn't a country (Hong Kong) is included. It just seems a bit arbitrary to me, but whatever, I'm probably looking too much into it. Lol
Actually you're right. I suppose there is a correlation with population but not directly. Maybe Kworb did some research into which iTunes stores are actually fairly active with a large turnover of purchases and filtered via that - as opposed to the small stores where only 5 downloads will take you to #1.

Interesting you should say that. It would be cool to see some statistics about this kind of subject. Revenue from each iTunes store etc and market shares of the download industry. I suppose it varies hugely from country to country. And there are huge cultural differences about the prevalence of illegal downloading etc.
