He isn't joining them. They haven't released anything after Freddy died and it would probably generate backlash to announce Adam as the "replacement" of Freddy Mercury. They still do love to play live so I think that whenever they have a couple dates they are interested in they will give him a call.
No wonder Katy was so excited to watch them live again.
